CPB (cost per booking) – The future of local online search advertising – Part 1

Published April 13, 2011 – by admin

Monetime was started to revolutionize online local search advertising. Our vision is to transcend cost-per-click (CPC) and cost-per-impression (CPM) advertising (Google/Bing) for local businesses through a cost-per-booking (CPB) search advertising model based on booking appointments and events online (appointment and event based businesses make up a large percentage of local businesses including restaurants, spas, clinics, clubs and theatres).

CPB advertising offers businesses the most efficient and risk free model of advertising – they only pay when a new customer makes a booking that has been prepaid online.

Much of the recent success of companies like Groupon and LivingSocial could be attributed to their risk-free cost-per-sale (CPS) pricing model to business advertisers. We assert that the future of local search advertising will transcend “flash-buying” and incorporate a sustainable advertising channel for live appointment/seat inventory.

Think: Expedia/Kayak for small business.

Part 2: Our next post will demonstrate what the Monetime CPB model would look like if incorporated into Google/Bing local search.

Cheap haircuts at Vancouver’s wildest Saloon

Published May 31, 2010 – by admin

VANCOUVER, B.C. – At the edge of Gastown, where the city’s most creative inhabit old buildings and street sides, punks and professionals go to Bangtown Hair Saloon to get their hair cut by artists. This coming Tuesday, Vancouverites will be on the lookout for Bangtown’s discounted haircuts on Monetime’s The Daily Deal.

Walk up to the Saloon on West Pender and find a stylist with tattooed forearms and blazing red sneakers greeting customers as they enter the wild, Wild West. Inside, pictures and mirrors of all sizes and shapes cover the walls and you get the sense that you are on a movie set.

“Most of the stuff in here is from my grandmother’s house. The rest was brought to me by locals over the years,” Denny, one of the owners, will tell you.

At Bangtown, Vancouver’s most talented stylists sculpt hair while customers sip beer or Bailey’s and coffee.

“People are sold on the idea of being offered a drink. Everything else is a bonus.”

Here, you can rest your boots on a grand piano, get your hair cut and feel like an extra on a barbershop western.

Bangtown will be featured on Monetime’s The Daily Deal tomorrow, June 1st. The Daily Deal offers discounts on unique services, events and other stuff in Vancouver. To see today’s deal, go to www.monetime.com
